25.8 million people in the United States are
living with diabetes.
More than 375,000 people in Minnesota have
diabetes and that number is on the rise.
You and a guest are invited to hear from
people who are cured of diabetes because of the
diabetes research at the University of Minnesota. We will
also hear from the world-renowned diabetes scientists at the
University of Minnesota.

Program Highlights:
- Two islet cell transplant patients will
share their experience living with diabetes and
how being cured of the disease has changed their
life
- Dr. Bernhard Hering will provide an update
on his current preclinical trial that is one
step away from anticipated FDA approval to
transplant pig islets into humans to cure their
diabetes
- Dr. Klearchos Papas will present his
research (that the MN Lions Diabetes Foundation
is supporting) on viewing transplanted islets
inside the body pre and post-transplant
- Tour and see firsthand the most powerful
imaging magnets in the world – where scientists
in real time and non-invasively view inside the
body.
